Penn State administration robs students of tradition
I picked up the Collegian on Thursday to be flabbergasted once again by the administration's heavy-handedness and blatant disregard for students. Prohibiting students from camping out at Paternoville until two days before the Michigan game? What's next? No noise-making in Beaver Stadium? I understand safety concerns (such as the extension cord in the rain), but once again the Penn State administration uses a sledgehammer when only a fly swatter is called for. This basic infringement of student (and constitutional) rights is mind-boggling. Students wish to peaceably assemble to show support for a team, coach and school they love (and incidentally not protest one of the administration's lame-brain new policies) and still they are shut down. I hope the public grabs at a benign practice, and at what was becoming a new student tradition, will finally wake students up and motivate them to actively oppose the university administration because of its continued disregard for the people they are supposed to serve; every student should know the administration-approved lackeys in student government won't do a thing for them.
