Student allegedly made unwanted calls

Penn State University police reported that Penn State student Michael A. Blackwell, of the 3000 block of Scott Road, was charged with harassment, stalking and criminal trespass Wednesday after he allegedly made numerous unwanted phone calls and sent text messages Sept. 30 to a female student in Jordan Hall.

Blackwell was arraigned Friday by District Judge Jonathan Grine, who set unsecured bail at $500.

Visiting man reports verbal harassment

A male visitor reported to Penn State University Police that he was being followed by a group of men at about 3 a.m. Saturday. The man reported that the group was verbally harassing him after overhearing him make a racial slur on his cell phone. Police said the men followed the visitor into Hiester Hall, attempting to engage in a physical altercation.

Police were not able to locate the suspects, and an investigation is underway.

Vehicle suffers damage following fire

State College police reported that Alpha Fire Company extinguished a vehicle fire around noon Saturday on Mt. Nittany Expressway after an Indiana man who was driving home from Boston reported his 1990 Geo Prizm was on fire. Tim Miltz, 38, said he pulled over when strange noises were coming from his hood. He said he was able to get out of his car when the hood caught fire.

Police said the cause of the fire is unknown, but the vehicle suffered severe damage.
