No alcohol needed for these . . .

Believe it or not, there are some students who don't equate weekends with keg stands, beer pong and unexplained bruises from the night before.

I know several people who like to hang out with their friends at parties, but sometimes feel left out when everyone's drinking fancy-looking mixed drinks and all they have is a glass of water.

Don't let this happen to your friends. Do them a favor and come prepared with alternative beverage ideas.

Most of them have extremely simple preparation and use the same ingredients as alcoholic drinks. This makes it easy for you to get the most party out of your dollar.

Gracious, although drunk, hosts will make sure everyone at their place is happy. The following list will help you get started in that direction.

Non-alcoholic champagne:

32-oz. club soda

12-oz. frozen white grade juice con

centrate, thawed

Stir together club soda and grape

juice concentrate. Pour into two soda

bottles. Cap tightly and chill. Serves 8

to 10.

College punch:

2 quarts pineapple juice

2 quarts apple juice

2 quarts orange juice

1 quart ginger ale

1 quart orange sherbet

Strawberries for garnish

Combine and mix all ingredients in

container and serve.

Non-alcoholic margarita:

1 1/2 ounces sweet and sour mix

1/2 ounce lime juice

1/2 ounce orange juice

Shake with ice and pour over ice into

glass.

Iced mocha:

2 cups milk

1/3 cup chocolate syrup

1 tablespoon instant coffee

Whipped cream

Mix well and pour over crushed ice

into a glass. Top with whipped cream

and chocolate shavings (if desired).

This makes approximately four serv

ings.

Just a Moonmint:

2 cups milk

Chocolate syrup

1/4 tablespoon mint flavoring

Blend together at medium speed until

smooth

Orange and tonic:

6 ounces orange juice

4 ounces tonic water

Mix over ice in a glass.

Non-alcoholic Mai-Tai:

1/2 cup pineapple juice

1/4 cup club soda

1 tablespoon Grenadine

1/4 cup orange juice

1 tablespoon cream of coconut

Mix all ingredients in a shaker or tall

glass. Shake or

stir to blend.

Apple Collins:

1/3 ounce apple

juice

1/3 ounce

lemonade

1/3 ounce

Sprite

Mix everything

over ice and

serve.
