No one has been cited for violating the ban on drinking in tailgate areas as of 5 p.m. today, Tyrone Parham, Penn State University Police assistant director, said.
Parham said this would be the first home game where Penn State police would actively enforce the ban.
He said the number of people tailgating during the game has drastically decreased this year and related it directly to the ban.
"There's no doubt," he said.
Parham said final numbers of alcohol-related citations will be made available this evening.
