Although I didn't attend Rebecca Corry's performance, this is in response to the "Comedian Offends Reader" letter by Joey Accardo. While I personally do not believe rape is funny, I realize that, for the sake of comedy, comedians must portray everyday issues in a humorous light. We, the audience, are given new ways to view the world in a relaxed setting and simply laugh about it. Seeing as Accardo is a freshman, he probably would not have been able to see last year's George Carlin performance at the Eisenhower Auditorium.
Despite his taboo themes, Carlin is always met with laughter and applause from faithful fans.
Everyone's allowed to be a critic, but the point of a comedy show is to drop any preconceived notions about the world in order to identify the humor in it. I suggest that Accardo attend a few more shows in order to gain a full comedic experience.
