Lions' slate includes 11 ranked opponents

Penn State men's volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik's team will face 11 teams ranked in the final CSTV/AVCA Division I-II Top 15 Poll to highlight the 2007 Penn State men's volleyball schedule, including two out of the three participants in last year's National Collegiate Championship.

From the final AVCA poll, national runner-up Penn State will play UC Irvine (No. 2), Long Beach State (No. 3), Hawaii (No. 4), BYU (No. 7), IPFW (No. 9), UC Santa Barbara (No. 10), Loyola-Chicago (No. 11), Ball State (No. 12), Southern California (No. 13), George Mason (No. 14) and Ohio State (No. 15), while also facing several regional and conference foes throughout the season.

The Nittany Lions open the season on the road at Ball State and IPFW (Jan. 12-13) before heading to the Outrigger Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii, to take on BYU and the host Warriors on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26-27. Penn State opens its home schedule against Ohio State on Thursday, Feb. 1 and will take to the road to face the Buckeyes on Saturday, March 3.

This season's spring trip features another journey west to face UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine on Monday and Wednesday, March 12 and 14, before squaring off against Long Beach State and a team yet to be determined at the Long Beach Active Ankle Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 16-17.
