In recent weeks, the university has not been subtle regarding its concern for the drinking problem that "plagues" our campus.
Statements have been repeatedly made suggesting that the university's anti-drinking campaigns are all but a flop.
Let me make a suggestion to the university: Decriminalize marijuana on campus.
Sounds absurd, right?
Maybe not.
Any person who has been around the block a few times can attest to a phenomenon that seems to discourage drinking in marijuana users.
Why?
It's difficult to say, but the results are undeniable.
Problems such as drunken violence and, more importantly, alcohol poisoning would be effectively eliminated.
Ever see anyone overdose on weed? I'm sure some have tried, though with limited success.
Ever see stoned kids get in a fight?
Doubtful. No amount of anti-drinking propaganda will eliminate the problem, so why not seek an alternative?
