Pedestrians, do us cyclists a favor and take two seconds to look both ways before you step out into the street.
I can't tell you how many times I have been biking and nearly hit a pedestrian because they stepped out in front of me, forced me to come to a screeching halt and then blamed me as if it were my fault.
Also, if you could do us cyclists and motorists a favor and not walk in the street, that would be a great help.
There is plenty of space on the sidewalk to use when walking between classes. Bikes stay on the streets and pedestrians should stay on the sidewalk.
Watch for cyclists who are using the road and be courteous. I understand that Penn State has taken on a heavy load of students, but that does not mean that we all have to be ignorant of common customs and courtesies.
So please, just remember to stay on the sidewalks if you are walking. If you are walking at a leisurely pace, stay to the right-hand side of the sidewalk and allow others who are in a hurry to walk on the left.
If you are biking, bike on the streets and allow the pedestrians the use of the sidewalk.
If we can work together I am sure that we will be able to use the road and sidewalks safely and effectively.
