USG debates reaction to UPUA
Members of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) senate spent almost an hour last night debating how they should react to the new University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA).
UPUA will become the official student voice after it holds elections on October 11. Some members of USG senate expressed strong reservations about what they said was a lack of openness on the UPUA transition committee.
However, others voiced concern about investing too much time in debating the issue. Ali Fuller, chairwoman of the student services committee, said that public criticism of the administration might make it more difficult to get administrative cooperation on USG projects. Nick Stathes, USG President, said that until student government gets more formal powers, USG should focus on delivering services to the students.
