As an alumnus of Penn State, I am disgusted by the display of bleachers being broken at the Youngstown State game. Is it really necessary to destroy something to show support for your team?
Isn't it like spitting on your own players? I am sure this is neither the first or last time that such a thing has happened, but I am very disappointed to see that today's students are acting in this manner. I enjoyed games at Beaver Stadium and hope to again someday. There were more students stuffed onto the same number of benches every year I was there, and the student population only continues to grow. There needs to be a consideration of fellow students.
Also, there needs to be a consideration of the generations of alumni who help to pay to maintain the stadium with their donations every year. I contribute significantly to my alma mater and hope that my contributions don't have to go to repairing stadium seating that has been destroyed by the students that they are provided for.
I take a little piece of Penn State with me everywhere I go in the world, which is a lot of places as I am in the military. I hope that I don't have to defend the actions of current students for such acts in the future.
