Accused man requests new court date
Andrew A. Rogers, 28, the State College man accused of beating a Penn State student to death with a baseball bat and bottle, is requesting a special court day for his pretrial hearing, originally scheduled for today.
Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said he is still waiting to hear from the court as to when the hearing will be rescheduled, but he anticipates it to be soon.
Rogers is charged with first- and third-degree murder as well as theft. Madeira said Friday that the commonwealth will not be seeking the death penalty against Rogers.
