Pollock library alterations not conducive to students
One of the more pertinent events affecting our campus that has not been mentioned is the sudden closing of the lower floor of Pollock Library. As a longtime user of Pollock Library, I cannot understand why it is closed, as it seemed to be well utilized, especially late at night. Also, the integration of the ground floor of Pollock Library with the ITS computer lab upstairs caused both facilities to be used more effectively. I do not feel that extending the hours of a study area that already exists makes up for the abandonment of another study area. I can understand the library's decision to consolidate, or the idea that a laptop lending service in the same building as the largest computer is unnecessary. However, I feel it is a shame that the first floor of Pollock Library must be closed. I would be very happy if this area were to reopen, even if it were not run by the University Library system.
