TA says students should be trusted with food, drink

As a teaching assistant last year I was certainly disgusted with the smashed
food, wrappers, gum and other litter a
class of 150 students could leave behind. For this, I am grateful for this new "no food" policy.

However, as a graduate student regularly sitting through three-hour seminars, I appreciate the opportunity to supplement these long classes with some caffeine.

All I ask is that drinks in "safe" containers are allowed. Luckily, Penn State sells and endorses a spill-proof mug approved
for use in the library where food and drinks are not allowed. If I can be trusted with it in a setting of delicate books and journals, I can be trusted with it while sitting in a chair.
