Details unanswered in Carraway murder
Many questions remain in the case of a student who was stabbed in June.

Three months after a Penn State student was found stabbed to death in his apartment, police remain tight-lipped about the crime scene and have yet to name any suspects in the murder.

Langston Carraway, 110 Northbrook Lane, was found June 5 by a family member who reported to police that he did not have a pulse. His death was ruled a homicide June 6 by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, who said Carraway, 26, died of "massive blood loss as a result of a stabbing."

Who's who?
Langston Carraway: Penn State student stabbed to death June 5.

John Petrick:
Patton Township Police Chief who said the investigation is being kept under wraps so as to not jeopardize leads.

LaVon Chisley:
Police want to question him about his friendship with Carraway.

Michael Madeira:
Centre County District Attorney who said he has no intention of arresting Chisley for the murder.

Karen Muir:
Chisley's attorney who has said she thinks Chisley will be arrested for the murder and that her client is innocent.

He would not say how many times Carraway had been stabbed or where the wounds were located. Patton Township Police Chief John Petrick said it appears Carraway knew his killer because there was no sign of forced entry into his apartment.

Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said police want to talk to former Penn State football player LaVon Chisley about Carraway's murder because he had been living with Carraway's brothers until the day before Carraway's body was found.

Chisley was being held in Centre County jail on misdemeanor drug charges until Wednesday, but Madeira would not comment on whether or not he was able to question Chisley on the events of June 5.

Chisley's drug charges stem from a June 19 incident in which police visited the apartment of Chisley's ex-girlfriend in attempt to talk to him about Carraway's murder, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint states that police did not find Chisley, but they did find "small amount of marijuana" and a scale, which the girlfriend identified as items Chisley had left behind.

Chisley was later picked up in Ann Arundel, Md., on similar drug charges. Patton Township police put a detainer on him, keeping him from being released even if he made bail.

Chisley was extradited to Centre County Aug. 21 and later released after a judge ruled that he would only have to pay his $5,000 bail set in Centre County if he failed to show up for his next court date, set for sometime in November.

Madeira said he believes Chisley will also have a mid-September court date in Maryland for the charges he faces there. Madeira said until county officials can get the story straight, they will remain "guarded" about any release of information.

Although this is the third area murder in 2006, police have said they believe the incident was isolated and there is no reason for residents or students to be alarmed.

Petrick said residents and students should not be concerned that an arrest hasn't been made. He would not comment on whether or not he thinks Carraway's alleged murderer is still in the Patton Township area. Petrick and Madeira said they are continuing to conduct numerous interviews.
