Letter to the Editor
Those on minimum wage work very hard at jobs

This is in response to Patrick Hahn's letters to the editor; "Those on minimum wage should not raise families" August 7 and "Minimum wage worker can only blame self" August 4. In these letters, he simply argues that those earning minimum wage do not work hard enough to warrant any raise. You are mistaken and out of touch with reality if you really believe that those flipping your burger do not work hard. They probably work harder than you do. Imagine what the world be like if everyone went to college and earned a degree. For starters, you would be forced to deal with your sewage problem, plumbing, refuse collection, and the list goes on and on. What you need to do is wake up to the realities of today's economy and stop thinking of those earning minimum wage from the standpoint of your own success or "lack thereof." I don't earn a minimum wage, but I still think that those earning minimum wage deserve to live a decently, let alone being criticized for raising a family. Raising the minimum wage is not an incentive to be lazy. This is seriously flawed logic. And if the grammar is too "tricky" for you to understand, let someone earning a minimum wage read it to you.
