NEWS

The State College man charged with beating a Penn State student to death in February sat virtually motionless yesterday as a judge told the prosecuting district attorney that he could continue to seek the death penalty.

Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said at a pretrial hearing for Andrew A. Rogers yesterday that he does not believe a witness to the murder of a Penn State student actually exists.

The man accused of fatally stabbing a Penn State student last spring will take the stand today at a hearing to determine whether or not taxpayers will pick up the bill for any assistance his privately-hired legal team may need during his trial.

As if this summer hasn't been hot enough, State College will be "burnin' " when reggae star Sean Paul comes to the Bryce Jordan Center Sept. 6.

Starting tomorrow, some Penn State students may notice that Webmail looks a little different.

SPORTS

It is said that it isn't how you start, but how you finish -- but for the State College Spikes, the beginning was as bad as the end.

As a child, State College left-handed reliever Brian Schroeder used to sit and watch Pedro Martinez and Greg Maddux pitch and dream about pitching in a major league stadium.
