Sean Paul to raise 'temperature' at BJC

Collegian Staff Writer

As if this summer hasn't been hot enough, State College will be "burnin' " when reggae star Sean Paul comes to the Bryce Jordan Center Sept. 6.

The Jamaican rapper, who has three number-one singles and two multi-platinum albums to his name, is known for his danceable beats and Caribbean rhythms, notably on songs like "We Be Burnin' " and "Get Busy."

Melissa Mastin, a disc jockey from State College, said Sean Paul is one of the more popular artists played in clubs.

"People just absolutely love it," Mastin said. "They go crazy for it."

Her favorite Sean Paul song is "Give It Up To Me" because it has "a Cuban-meets-romantic sound to it."

"All the couples really like that one," Mastin said.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday. Both reserved and general admission tickets are $32.50 for the public or $20 with a student ID. There is also a student presale Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center.

Sales will be limited to one ticket per student ID.

Public sale tickets will also be available at the HUB-Robeson Center, Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Tickets Downtown, all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 865-5555 or (800) 863-3336 and at www.bjc.psu.edu.

Lion Cash will be accepted at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center and the HUB.

The tour will be in support of Paul's third and most recent album, The Trinity, which has produced hit singles "Give It Up To Me," "Never Gonna Be the Same" and the number-one hit "Temperature."

Jordan Cooper (senior-English) complimented Paul's ability to get people up and moving.

"It's good dance music," Cooper said.

Norm Horn (senior-physical therapy) agreed.

"He's got the right temperature to shelter you from the storm," Horn said, quoting Paul's hit song, "Temperature."

An opener for the concert has yet to be announced, Bernie Punt, director of public relations for the Bryce Jordan Center, said.
