Two Penn State students were cited for harassment after they allegedly used a Web site to prank call other students and threaten them with underage drinking violations.
Balazs Szallasi, 20, and Ankur Patel, 21, were each issued a summary offense on July 18 and fined about $420.
Police allege that the pair called about 10 people on July 1 and anonymously told them that pictures on www.TheFacebook.com incriminated them.
Police said the pair then told the students they would receive an underage drinking citation.
Argiro said Szallasi and Patel used a Web site that would conceal their identities and change the caller identification to show the State College Police Department phone number.
According to the police report, Szallasi and Patel used Facebook to get the information on the people that they called.
The report stated that the Web site, www.ospenterprizes.com/ phone, helped Szallasi and Patel create a computer-generated recording that told victims "State College police are investigating underage drinking using Facebook.com" when they answered the phone.
Szallasi and Patel told police they originally did the prank as a joke on a friend.
The two then proceeded to call about 10 additional acquaintances and strangers.
Police obtained a search warrant for Szallasi's computer during the investigation and found both Web sites in his computer's history.
Patel has pleaded guilty to the crime. State College Police Sgt. Mark Argiro said Szallasi has until Aug. 5 to plead to the crime.
If he enters a plea of not guilty, a hearing will be scheduled, Argiro said.
