PSU football players to 'Lift for Life'

The fourth annual Lift for Life challenge will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. tomorrow in Holuba Hall. Lift for Life is a strength and conditioning competition open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10 per person or $25 per family. Fans will have a chance to meet and get autographs from current and former members of the Penn State football team.

Ninety-two Nittany Lion football players, including senior co-captains Levi Brown and Paul Posluszny, are scheduled to compete. Other star players planning to compete are seniors Jay Alford, Tony Hunt and Tim Shaw; juniors Dan Connor and Anthony Morelli; and sophomores Jordan Norwood and Derrick Williams.

During the competition, the squad breaks into teams of four and competes in a series of 11 challenges. The events range from more traditional exercises, like bench press, to more extreme challenges, like the 200-pound plate carry and giant tire flip.

Since its inaugural year, the event has raised more than $80 thousand for the Kidney Cancer Association for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of kidney cancer.
