Dave Schweitzer, ("Majority of states support a ban on gay marriage," July 10), let me take an educated guess here: You're brand new to the college scene at University Park? You're fresh out of those miserable years of immaturity and ignorance classified as high school?
My friend, you've got a lot to learn. I try to keep my mouth shut unless I'm fired up enough to write in, and your elementary thoughts on same-sex marriage offended me: a single, straight female.
I've read the letters challenging you and completely agree. What's your opinion on other topics that supposedly are "unethical" according to Christian prophecy? Ever indulge in porn? Gotten drunk? Have you ever had rage toward another or been unable to resist stuffing your face at the Chinese buffet? Last time I checked with my Christian upbringing, those acts are all shunned by the church as well.
Change takes time, and eventually you may live next door to a happily married gay couple. You may even find your unwedded-self skipping weekly mass in order to snuggle up against the woman you "live in sin" with. Welcome to college, Dave. Use your time wisely. Learn who your adult self is, not who your parents told you to be.
