A State College resident is in fair condition at Altoona Hospital after she allegedly ran a stop sign and was struck by a garbage truck yesterday at the corner of Orchard Drive and Park Avenue, State College Police Cpl. Matthew Wilson said.
Heather Warren was extracted from her Volkswagen Golf by Alpha Fire Company and life-flighted to Altoona hospital after she was struck by Thomas Summers, who was driving a Mac truck, around 2 p.m. yesterday.
The specifics of her injuries are unknown. Summers did not have any injuries.
A citation has not yet been issued, but Wilson said it is likely one will be issued. Police have ruled out either driver being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and the investigation is ongoing, Wilson said.
The State College Police Department will put into effect several parking changes during the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. Streets near the festival area will be for exhibitor parking only. The "no parking" restrictions that normally take effect from 2 to 6 a.m. daily and the normal residential one- and two-hour restrictions will be lifted until 2 a.m. Monday. All other parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.
