Readers respond to issues surrounding censorship of art exhibit
Congratulations to students at Penn State for the interest generated by the cancellation of Josh Stulman's art exhibit ("PSU censors exhibit," April 21). As a visual arts major, I say thanks for the interest. How about some interest when we have a student exhibit, a gallery opening or an artist's lecture? Why is it that art students, professors and staff work hard every day to make our campus more artistically rich, and only when one show in many is censored does anyone care? We have controversial artwork and issues going on constantly in the School of Visual Arts, but the only recognition we get is this. Before everyone gets on their high horses and cites their First Amendment rights, I'd like to see some real support from the Penn State community for the arts instead of this front of "generated interest."
