Hurricane Rita can't stop 'Real World' cast bickering

Collegian Staff Writer

Last night's episode of MTV's The Real World: Key West picked up with the seven strangers in West Palm Beach, Fla., where they were staying during a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Rita.

However, Penn State alumnus John Devenanzio couldn't stay away from the drama, even in a different city.

After John noticed a man flirting with Tyler, he made an offensive comment about Tyler's sexuality -- so Tyler dumped a drink in John's lap. Once John retaliated, Tyler again stepped up, being the mature roommate, and left the bar for the night. His excuse: "There's never a reason for physical violence." I love a castmate with some common sense.

However, don't go siding with Tyler just yet; John remembers the night differently.

"The guy Tyler was with wasn't his type and he actually didn't want to hang out with him, so he created a story to get away," John said after the show aired. "He dragged me into the story and when I called him out on it, he got mad and dumped his drink into my lap."

John also added that Tyler used the excuse of him using the word "fag" as justification for his temper tantrum.

That same night, "insecure roommate" Paula found herself a guy to cry to. Realizing that "hot roommate" Svetlana was out to grab attention from the guys, Paula spilled her problems to her new friend.

Thankfully, in the morning the sun was shinning, the tears had dried, the hurricane had passed and the cast was headed home.

Once home, Paula and John talked about their fights and the tension between the two; being the big brother he is, John explained to Paula that she's better than her past, referring to a string of abusive boyfriends.

For half the season, viewers have seen many different sides to Johnny Bananas and a lot of Penn State gear. Keep watching to see what these crazy seven do next.
