Letter to the Editor
'Boozology' column lacks any maturity, intelligence

Regarding the column, "Lessons in 'boozology' last throughout life," April 18, I am appalled that this young man is an English major. The column was vapid and poorly written regardless of its attitude about alcohol use.

My son is currently a senior in high school and he has been accepted to Penn State, and the attitude and tolerance for alcohol use and abuse gives us cause to reconsider his attending, but the quality of writing by the graduating English major gives us even greater pause. What do students learn at Penn State? Obviously he (or his family) invested at least $80,000 in his education, and for what? For premature acceptance into Alcoholics Anonymous? His critical thinking skills and his writing ability do not seem to have been enhanced by four years at a premier learning institution.
