"We're based in ballet, modern and jazz, but we incorporate hip-hop, lyrical and tap," Sciolla said. "We adapt to what style the dancers bring to the company in all different forms of dance."
As well as having an array of dancing styles, the showcase will also include a wide variety of musical selections for the pieces.
"We've got anything from mainstream to Broadway," Sciolla said. "It's really a little bit of everything. We try to have a plethora of different sounds."
The program has 12 pieces, each different and choreographed by the students to hold special meaning, Sciolla said.
"All of our pieces have an individual meaning," Sciolla said. "They can tell a story or a memory about friendship or love -- anything. It means something to the individual choreographer."
Sciolla said that in previous years, the shows have drawn a crowd.
"Turn out is always excellent," Sciolla said. "It's something different to do; you get to listen to a lot of good music, too. We have like 300 to 400 people come up for a show. Majority is students supporting us."
Jamie Weiler (junior-human development and family studies) is a member of the company. She said she auditioned in the fall semester and is now finishing up a year- long commitment by participating in this spring showcase. Weiler said she really enjoys dancing with the company. "I love everything," Weiler said. "We're all best friends. It's a great opportunity for us to do what we love together and to showcase our talents."
Megan Lawless (junior-marketing) is one of four dancers involved with getting the show on its feet.
"I am the junior officer, and basically, along with the other four officers, we run the show," Lawless said. "We are here every single night. We have been preparing since January. To get the room it takes weeks and weeks. We have curtains and lights we have to go out and get, as well as trying to publicize the event around campus."
Lawless said rooms 132 and 133 look completely different once Orchesis redecorates. "They are dance rooms, and we transform them," Lawless said. "It becomes our own little theater -- very professional."
Lawless said she has been involved with Orchesis for three years.
"I've been involved since I was a freshman," Lawless said. "It's been a great three years. I couldn't ask for anything more. It's like our second home."
As for her favorite piece, Lawless said she had trouble picking just one.
"Each one of us have our own strengths and everyone gets to see different aspects of our dancing," Lawless said. "I love each and every one. It highlights our personalities."
Sciolla said everyone should come see the group's spring showcase.
"There are a lot of other companies, but not a lot of exposure for them," Sciolla said. "This is to introduce people to dance when most don't have an understanding. ... You get a little art in your life."
