New school segregation law might have positive outcome
The editorial about the attempted segregation in Omaha, Neb. made me think a little bit, as I just discussed that exact topic about an hour before I read the editorial ("School Segregation: Bill would negate decades of progress," April 18). What if a different point of view were argued? What if the best interests of the schools in the area were to be the segregation of the schools? I'm grateful that I have never had to commute into another school, but from what I have heard, it actually increases racial tension in that situation. If the federal government were to intervene and start desegregating those schools, then there might be more harm done than good. I don't support segregation, but this seems different somehow.
