The banjo, which originated as an African-American instrument, has been around for centuries and can be played in a variety of musical styles.

Popular music today consists of genres such as rap, hip-hop, alternative and punk, but during the 1840s, "pop music" meant banjos, theater and costumes.

From Mayan literature to the use of hydrogen as fuel, the "Research Unplugged" series has covered many topics to interest students and faculty members at Penn State.
