Man charged in car-ramming incident

A Spring Mills man was charged with four counts of aggravated assault after he allegedly rammed his car into another car twice last Monday, pushing it about 20 feet with two people inside, according to court documents.

Court documents indicate that a man and a woman were sitting in their parked car in their driveway, when Arthur L. Ernest, 43, of 149 Water St., allegedly drove his car behind them with two other men in his car, partially blocking the car in the driveway.

The woman told police she recognized Ernest's car and noted that she had recently broken off a three-year relationship with him. He had threatened her about seeing anyone else, according to court documents.

The victims told police that Ernest followed them down College Avenue toward State College, with their vehicle reaching 115 mph.

Ernest was also charged with simple assault, harassment, stalking, endangering another person, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, reckless and careless driving and other accident-related charges.

Ernest was arraigned Friday by District Judge Jonathan Grine and placed in Centre County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail. He was later released with an agreement that he would not contact the victims. His preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

Student allegedly entered three houses

A Penn State student was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly entered three Prospect Avenue homes while intoxicated.

According to court documents, Andrew Kane, 18, of Philadelphia, was found passed out on a couch by a resident of 251 E. Prospect Ave. The resident asked Kane to leave.

Kane then allegedly entered 247 E. Prospect Ave. The residents of the house argued with Kane and escorted him through the front door, according to court documents. The State College Police Department said Kane then went to 245 E. Prospect Ave., where the resident found him sleeping on a daybed in the living room. None of the residents of the houses knew Kane, police said.

When he was arrested, Kane did not know where he was and smelled of alcohol, according to court documents. He was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct and cited for underage drinking.
