Kweli's performance will draw large crowd

I disagree with Sarah Nelson's opinion that Talib Kweli's performance goes against the spirit of Movin' On ("Movin' On headlining act fails to meet expectations," April 12). All of the groups she listed were not mainstream acts that brought fresh and innovative sounds to previous Movin' Ons. I think Kweli brings that same feeling; he just chooses to express it through rhymes instead of guitar riffs.

Did you hear the song in which he praises Lauryn Hill and her debut album for uplifting the spirits of black women and women in general? If not, then you are missing out on one of the best rappers in the industry today.

And what is wrong with a slight change? I think people who want to dismiss him as just another "Yes, I got shot that many times" rapper are going to miss out on a great show. Maybe he won't be accompanied by a drummer but there's always the chance that The Roots will perform next year. I'm sorry to hear that Nelson will not be attending the show. If she were to attend, she could have walked away as a fan of a different type of "rock on" vibe.
