PSU officials lack right to oppose group activity
Once again, the administration gets involved in an issue in which it has no place ("PSU against illegal immigrant day," April 13). Since when is it the place of the administration to hold such opinions about an event happening on campus, just because some students may be offended? I did not see the administration step up when the posters of aborted fetuses were set up outside the Pattee Library and Willard Building. What about the students who were offended by that demonstration? Where was the administration's condemnation then? Penn State's Vice President for Educational Equity Terrell Jones and President Graham Spanier need to be consistent with their opinions of events on campus. I am not one to agree with the College Republicans and their claim of a liberal bias on campus, but a public bashing of a student-run event by the university's administration will only discourage valuable and needed debates. So, kudos to the College Republicans, and every other group on this campus, for continuing to raise awareness about issues, even those with which we might not be comfortable. Greg Heleniak
