While I see Sarah Nelson's point, that Movin On' has, in the past, primarily been a showcase for rock bands, I think she is being entirely too closed-minded ("Movin' On headlining act fails to meet expectations," April 12).
I am a fan of rock, punk and other related genres, but I also love rap. Judging by the attendance at October's Kanye West concert, it is obvious that there are a lot of rap fans on this campus, and it is about time that Penn State offer something to us. In my four years here, out of all the Crowbar and Bryce Jordan Center shows, I have seen a total of two rap concerts. Props to the Movin' On committee for giving graduating rap fans a great reason to attend our last Movin' On. Talib Kweli is a talented and original performer, a real rarity these days.
I suggest Nelson open her mind a little and gives him a chance. If, however, she is too offended by the presence of a single rapper (note that the rest of the lineup is the usual assortment of rock bands), go and take comfort in one of the hundreds of punk rock shows the Crowbar perpetually offers.
