Allowing credits to transfer would benefit many students
This letter is in response to Stephen Ott's letter, "Accepting transfer credits would hurt PSU graduates," April 11. When you think transfer credits, most people think about a few summer classes filling general education requirements. But has it occurred to you that this can actually apply to an entire semester's work? One of my high school friends started at Shippensburg University as an elementary education major, but transferred to Penn State when she changed majors. When she told me that Penn State was not accepting any of her credits, I was shocked. Ott may think that accepting outside credits would devalue his degree. But how did Penn State not devalue all the work she put into her classes? Math is math. And don't tell me the average Math 140 class is an exemplary educational experience. Rachel Leese
