I want to start off by saying thank you to Sean Wolfe, Brian Anderson and Melissa Derby. I knew there were still a few people at Penn State with common sense. As for Sean Collier, his column was absurd ("Drinking citations cause more harm than good," April 5).
He says we should be "afraid" of Penn State University Police, but I don't see why. If they are paying you a visit, they either want to simply talk to you, or in the case of students drinking underage, they have to cite you, because obviously you have broken the law. If you break the law in front of a law enforcement officer, chances are you'll have to face the consequences, no matter if it's on the Internet through facebook.com or in person.
So with that said, I would like to remind Penn State students that there is no reason to fear the police. They, like all of us, are human. They have families, friends and people they deal with everyday. Maybe one day it will be you. But just keep in mind that they are all people just like you. So have common sense, and don't be afraid; just be courteous.
