Although the four years I spent in a sorority at Penn State are over, it's good to see there is still support for a greek community that has become one of the best in the nation ("Greeks serve unique purpose at universities," April 6).
I commend The Daily Collegian for running a column on the positive aspects of the greek system. From Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon to individual philanthropies to lifelong friendships, fraternities and sororities at Penn State are an integral part to the tradition and composition of the university. As an alumna, I make financial contributions not only to the College of Liberal Arts, but also to my sorority chapter, because I believe the greek system is one of the things that makes Penn State so unique.
I encourage every student not just to look into joining a greek organization, but to also befriend a current member. I know that each person who does this will see there is more to "frat guys" and "sorostitutes" than the stereotypes that have been unfairly placed on us.
