Student hit by vehicle on Curtain Road

The Penn State University Police reported that a student was struck by a vehicle at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday. The incident occurred along Curtain Road near the Bryce Jordan Center. He was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment. University police Supervisor Edward Delaney said he could not release more information because the investigation is continuing.

Stephen Wadsworth (graduate-political science) said he witnessed the accident. He said it appeared that the student was hit by the car after he just got off the Blue Loop bus. He said the accident seemed "very serious" and the car crashed into a yellow concrete barrier. The student went into the air and landed 6 or 7 feet away from the concrete barrier in the grass, Wadsworth said.

The State College Police Department said they assisted at the scene but had no information on the incident.

Counterfeit money being used in area

Counterfeit currency is being circulated in the area, according to a press release from the State College Police Department.

Police are warning business owners to look out for a fake $10 bill that is "of poor quality" and has the serial number CB13578383C. Fake bills should not be returned to the person who issued it, police said. Police suggest noting the person's appearance and license plate, but they warn not to confront or attempt to detain the individual.

Any information can be directed to police at 234-7150.
