Letter to the Editor
Foulke spent time in office stripping students of power

In the article "PSU Approves the UPUA," April 4, I was appalled by current Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Galen Foulke's unbelievable boast: "I said what I'd do and I did what I said." That statement could not be further from the truth.

In fact, Foulke ran on a platform in his first term that stated, "the administration is about to pull the plug on USG, we can't let that happen." From then until now, Foulke has made close friends with Penn State President Graham Spanier, and Vice President of Student Affairs Vicky Triponey, while neglecting the students who put him into office. Not only did he fail to install web cams in gyms to gauge wait times and to create an online indicator of how far away the White and Blue loops were from a student's bus stop, but he also destroyed unbiased and student-lead representation.

The next time he says, "I said what I'd do and I did what I said," remind him that stripping students of their representative rights and replacing them with a nightmare of an "advocacy body" controlled by Penn State officials was not part of the deal he made with voters.
