I was angered to read about the fire in Pinchot Hall last weekend ("Fire in dorm called arson," April 3). Arson is a serious crime, and I hope those who set the fire are caught and sent to jail. Fortunately no Pinchot Hall residents were injured on Sunday morning.
It disgusts me to think that while Alpha Fire Co. firefighters were fighting a house fire on West College Avenue, firefighters from Bellefonte and Philipsburg had to be called to fight this senseless fire in Pinchot Hall. Perhaps the arsonists can learn something from the heroism of Matt Emmerling and Kevin Mahoney, who made Penn State proud by saving strangers from a burning house. I urge anyone who has information about the Pinchot Hall fire to come forward to the police. Perhaps if the arsonists are punished, we will learn that arson is not a prank, but that it is a crime
