Bar fight leaves student unconscious
A Penn State student was charged with assault and harassment after an early Saturday morning fight at The Lion's Den, 118 S. Garner St., which left another student unconscious.
The State College Police Department said Matthew R. Fisher, 22, of State College, punched Robert M. Williamson, 22, of State College, in the face, knocking him to the ground at about 2 a.m.
Fisher then kicked the victim in the head twice before being brought to the ground by bar staff and Williamson's friends, according to court documents.
Williamson was unconscious in the bar and remained in that state in the emergency room at Mount Nittany Medical Center, where he was also treated for a broken nose, according to court documents. He was released later Saturday.
Police said that Fisher and Williamson had a mutual female friend and that they had all been drinking alcohol.
Fisher was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment Saturday morning.
Elevators, lobby in Allenway damaged
The State College Police Department reported two elevators and the fourth-floor lobby of Allenway Apartments, 315 S. Allen St., were damaged early yesterday morning. Ceiling panels were knocked down and lights were broken in the elevators. The smoke detector was torn down and lights were also broken in the fourth-floor lobby as well, police said. There was no estimated value for the damages and no suspects. Police said if the person or people responsible are found, they will be cited for criminal mischief.
