PSU sweatshop protest confusing for students
I am somewhat confused by the recent push for "sweat-less" Penn State apparel. I saw the group of students marching on Monday, and much like Shatonya Perry, I too found the group's signs and message blurry and confusing ("Students disrobe in protest," March 28). Perhaps if the groups had gotten their signs made by the same companies that produce Penn State apparel, this message would have been easier to read, more professional and cheaper than their bed sheet with painted letters scribbled across it. As for Ben Brewer, I believe he was wearing a jockstrap and shoes, both of which are likely to have been made in sweatshops under "extreme conditions." Brewer's rear-end may have been sweat-free, however, his feet and jockstrap were not. I suggest instead of marching in the near nude, students express their distaste in a more organized and tasteful manner. At the least, keep your demonstrations within the areas outlined by the university. Perhaps Gary Cattell, the Willard Preacher, could help you deliver your message. Russell Shackleford
