The fact that attendance remains low for men's basketball games at the Bryce Jordan Center should come as no surprise ("Attendance woes a worry for hoops," March 28).
I congratulate the team and coaching staff for the progress they made this season, but Penn State has yet to put a Big Ten Conference title contender on the court since I've have been here, which long ago exceeded the prescribed eight semesters. A contender will bring the crowds to the BJC.
But in the meantime I offer a suggestion to the men's basketball program: Play a conference game or two in Rec Hall, have the team sport throwback jerseys, market the game to students and listen to the din of the crowd. A win just may echo down the road, all the way to the BJC.
