Student hurt in car accident released

A Penn State student injured in a car accident March 17 was discharged from the hospital Friday.

Stephanie Lent, 22, of Fairlawn, N.J., was critically injured when the car she was driving crossed the median of U.S. Route 322 and hit a tractor-trailer and a UPS truck.

The passenger, Allison Caimi, 22, of Ridgway, died at the scene.

The two students were traveling to Lewistown where they were to student teach at Highland Park Elementary School.

Lent was in serious condition at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for six days. She was updated to fair condition March 21 and discharged Friday.

Pennsylvania State Police reported Lent sustained a broken clavicle and tibia and internal bruising when she was taken from the site of the accident.

Plane makes a safe emergency landing

A five-passenger plane made an emergency landing at University Park Airport yesterday.

No one was hurt in the landing, Penn State University Police said. The cause was linked to the loss of oil from one of the plane's engines. Bellefonte Ambulance, Bellefonte Fire Department, University Ambulance Service and the Penn State HazMat team were available for assistance, police said.
