Racial profiling beneficial for solving certain crimes
This letter is in response to Matt Hershberger's letter, "Fliers wrong to advocate use of racial profiling," March 24. I am glad that Hershberger was able to point out examples of the few times when law enforcement has been wrong in racial profiling, but certainly he must know that these cases are the exceptions, not the rule. Add to that list all the times law enforcement has effectively used profiling to assist in a manhunt and he will see my point. Think about the real possibility that someday you will have a little kid, and there is a child molester on the loose in your neighborhood. If you really want to live in a world where police waste their time questioning every old lady on your block for the sake of not hurting feelings, be my guest. I would prefer they find the guy.
