Police stop men who threatened bar
Three men were stopped by a police blockade early Monday morning after one of them threatened to "shoot up" The Saloon, 101 Heister St.
The State College Police Department reported the men were kicked out of The Saloon by bar staff after being involved in a verbal confrontation with other bar patrons. Upon leaving, one man claimed he had a handgun -- which turned out to be a lie, police said.
Police stopped the men, who had left the bar and were driving in a car with a Penn State student, just after 2 a.m. on North Atherton Street near Park Avenue. They blocked the street with police cars, forcing the passengers out of the car at gunpoint.
None of the passengers were found in possession of a handgun. The three men involved in the bar fight will be issued citations for disorderly conduct, police said.
Woman reports lost engagement ring
A woman told the State College Police Department that she lost her $1,895 engagement ring Saturday night at Players Nite Club, 112 W. College Ave.
As the woman was holding her ring, someone bumped her and the ring flew out of her hand, she reported. Although several people searched for the ring, it wasn't located, police said.
On Sunday, she reported the loss to police, who said yesterday it still has not been found.
