I tried hard to find a single factual statement in The Daily Collegian's editorial opposing a presidential censure. I was unsuccessful. ("Presidential Censure: Proposal divides weakened Democratic party," March 20).
If the Collegian's Board of Opinion had bothered to do any research, it would have found that polls on censure show mixed results. Not one poll has shown that a majority of Americans are against the censure of President Bush. And yet the board called Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., the man who introduced the proposal, a "rogue senator." According to the same polls, a majority of Democrats do support the censure of President Bush. The Collegian believes that Feingold does not appeal to his Democratic constituents. The Collegian is wrong. I think the Collegian spent more time researching the new Chuck Norris fad.
If the Collegian wants to write big, tough, sanctimonious editorials like The New York Times, I suggest it consult the Internet because editorials without facts are lies.
