Letter to the Editor
University should construct more on-campus parking

I read the editorial, "Hybrid Technology: Recycling more effective than incentives, March 1," and I agree that more attempts should be made on campus to conserve resources without incentives for motivation. I also liked the idea of promoting recycling as an alternative to the use of hybrid cars.

However, unlike the Eco-Action group, the editorial failed to mention a program to promote recycling. Perhaps The Daily Collegian's Board of Opinion should research current programs and focus on advancing their effectiveness. I also agree that parking is limited on campus, but limited parking should not discourage the idea of a parking incentives program. The university could solve this problem by building new parking garages on campus. Additional parking could accommodate visitors and students on campus. The parking incentive program may seem like a hassle, but this idea would help protect our environment and advance Penn State's ability to do so.
