Man charged with threatening father
The State College Police Department arrested Zachariah Marshall, 35, of State College, yesterday after he held a knife to his father's throat, according to a criminal complaint.
Marshall, of 1184 Oneida St., was charged with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.
On Saturday, according to the criminal complaint, Marshall began expressing anger over his wife after his sister-in-law dropped off his two children at his residence. After Marshall's father tried to calm him down, the sister-in-law left, according to the complaint. Shortly thereafter, according to the complaint, Marshall approached his father and pulled out a knife, dragging its handle across his throat. "I ought to slit your freaking throat," Marshall said, according to the complaint.
The father sat frozen as Marshall walked away, the complaint stated. The complaint added that police asked the victim to leave the residence. He currently does not have an address.
Marshall was arraigned before Centre County District Justice Jonathan Grine and is in the Centre County Prison in lieu of $10,000 straight bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the Centre County Courthouse.
Hearing is waived in drug-dealing case
A man who was arrested for allegedly attempting to sell an undercover officer $7,000 worth of OxyContin and morphine pills waived his preliminary hearing yesterday.
James R. Frost, 51, of Ephrata, was arrested on March 7 in the parking lot of the Nittany Mall. The State College Police Department recovered 746 OxyContin pills, 31 morphine pills and a 9-mm handgun from Frost's red Ford pickup truck, according to court documents.
Frost is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal attempt and criminal use of a communication facility for using his cell phone to arrange the meeting with the undercover officer.
PSU student reports Ritalin pills stolen
A 20-year-old Penn State student reported that 100 to 130 Ritalin pills were stolen from his apartment on the 100 block of South Allen Street sometime over spring break. The State College Police Department had no estimated value, but CVS Pharmacy, 116 W. College Ave., said 100 pills of Ritalin would cost about $117.
