I'm taking a microbiology class this semester and one of the two books needed for the course is offered digitally, but the price wasn't that much of a savings. I was surprised to find that the cost difference between a regular textbook and a digital book wasn't that different ("Digital textbooks may reduce costs," March 14).
I think the university should try to assess the cost of books and how much students are overcharged for them. In high school all of our books were paid for but moving from that stable environment to college is a definite slap in the face. College itself is very labor-intensive but having to deal with the cost of books makes college life even more troublesome.
