Last week may have been a break for Penn State students as they left for spring break, but the drama continued on MTV's The Real World: Key West.
Penn State alumnus John Devenanzio continued to be at the center of that drama as he upset fellow castmate Tyler by leaving the chosen bar of the night early.
Tyler, who said that he goes to the "hetero-bars" for everyone else, wanted to bring the roommates to a gay bar for the night for a change of atmosphere. It was John who sparked a fight in the house after he persuaded other roommates to head down the street to a bar where he felt more comfortable.
After what seemed like only a little bit of fighting, Tyler and John ended the drama in an unconventional way -- by talking out their problems.
However, that was not the only problem in the house. Castmate Paula, who earlier on in the season mentioned she had recently become anorexic, became the main topic of discussion between the roommates.
John, trying to help Paula with her eating disorder, suggested a compromise of him smoking fewer cigarettes and her eating more. Unfortunately for Johnny Bananas, something that easy didn't help her anorexia.
Last night, John took his turn of sliding into the background and letting the drama fall on others. The show started out with a little less drama and a lot more creativity.
The cast is prohibited from watching television because it limits the interaction between them, so the Real Worlders decided to venture out of the house and the bars and learn a little about Key West.
The gang decided to brave the rain and go on a ghost tour of Key West. While on the tour, the roommates learned about old churches and the ghost stories tied to them. The guys in the house saw how the girls reacted to certain ghost stories and started to formulate a plan.
The boys got the idea to wake up at 4 a.m. to prepare a prank of their own on the girls. After Zach and John wrapped roommate Jose in toilet paper and dressed him up to imitate a ghost the gang had learned about that same night, he ran into the girls' rooms. The girls woke up freaked out and not amused.
However, it was not all fun and games for these roommates when they found out their job for the season. In the past, jobs on The Real World have ranged from working at a radio station to cleaning boats.
The Key West cast's job will be to open and operate a Mystic Tan salon. Yes, a tanning salon in southern Florida.
The only roommate who didn't seem to be so happy about the job was Svetlana, who pouted the entire time they were at the store. With only two weeks until the grand opening, it was up to the gang to decide who would be in charge -- and so began the drama.
Tyler and Janelle ganged up on Svetlana, calling her out for her lack of etiquette and her princess-like behavior. Once she let out her tears in the confessional, she questioned whether or not she felt like she belongs in the house, describing herself as the outcast.
Yet again, in a mature, adult-like move, Tyler came to grips with the idea that Svetlana not only needs to learn how to get along with everyone in the house, but that he, too, needs to learn how to get along with her.
In an odd way of roommate bonding and apologizing, Tyler tried to entice Svetlana into a hot tub full of suds. While John may not have been at the heart of drama last night, any fan of The Real World knows that all of the drama has yet to truly begin.
