I would really like to hear Penn State President Graham Spanier's reasoning for taking a private plane to Harrisburg ("PSU planes catch committee's eye," March 2).
Living in Lancaster and now working in Harrisburg, I can tell you that it's a one-and-a-half-hour drive from State College to Harrisburg (give or take 10 minutes depending on traffic). I assume he arrived at Harrisburg International Airport, which is also a 20-minute drive to the capital.
When you add it up, how much time could he really have saved by flying to Harrisburg instead of driving? I would be willing to bet it took him longer to fly than to drive this extremely short distance.
