Players' name deters prospective customers

Although I do agree that Penn State students need exposure to more diversity, I can't help but think that Brad Groznik overlooked a glaring point about Players Nite Club in his column: the name of the club itself ("'Ghetto' label reveals larger race issues at local nightclub," March 3).

I used his source, the University of California-Berkeley's Slang Dictionary, to look up the definition of "player." The dictionary defines a "player" as "someone who dates more than one person at a time, usually just for sex or other perks; someone who will typically do anything to have sex with someone..."

Could this have something to do with why people assume the experience at Players is "of poor quality" and consequently refer to it as ghetto?
